Blake Beckemeyer

Tenor Blake Beckemeyer thrives on newly-composed works as well as small-ensemble renderings of sixteenth- through eighteenth-century German and British compositions. He is frequently seen with Miami-based Seraphic Fire and D.C. ensemble The Thirteen, looking forward to performing with Seraphic Fire in the Arsht Center this season in honor of their 20th Anniversary as well as with Matthew Robertson and The Thirteen in Monteverdi Vespers this coming October. Also this season, Beckemeyer makes his first performances with Washington Bach Consort in their premiere of a Weston cantata for choir and baroque orchestra and his first Evangelist in Bach St. John Passion in Indianapolis with Christ Church Cathedral and Indy Baroque.

In previous seasons, Beckemeyer has sang with, in addition to Seraphic Fire and The Thirteen, Spire Chamber Ensemble, True Concord Voices & Orchestra, Tonos del Sur, Charlotte Bach Akademie, Bach Ensemble-Helmuth Rilling, Vox Orchester & Choir, the Weimar Bach Kantate Akademie, the Berwick Chorus of the Oregon Bach Festival, Border CrosSing, and the early music festivals in Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Amherst. Beckemeyer in the Indianapolis area sings with Christ Church Cathedral as a staff singer.

Beckemeyer has had two projects earning nominations. His disc, Alexander's Feast, as a member of Vox Orchester and Choir, was nominated for an Opus Klassik. Recently, the video recording of Runestad Earth Symphony by Arizona PBS and True Concord which Beckemeyer appeared in the choir earned two Rocky Mountain Emmy nods. He looks forward to the reception of Ordway The Outer Edge of Youth, recorded this year, where he appears as soloist.

He holds degrees from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and DePauw University. When not singing, Beckemeyer works in the tech space in automation and artificial intelligence.
