Jason Widney

Praised by The Washington Post as "velvety voiced," Jason Widney is a distinguished performer and educator whose artistry spans classical vocal repertoire. As a sought-after oratorio soloist, Widney performs regularly with the Washington Bach Consort in the Noontime Cantata Series and both Passions. His Bach interpretations extend to the Christmas Oratorio with New Dominion Chorale, the St. Matthew Passion with Bach in Baltimore, and Schütz's Requiem. He has appeared with the Handel Choir of Baltimore in Vaughan Williams' Mass in G minor and Messiah, and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in Uematsu's Distant Worlds. At Washington National Cathedral, Widney sings in the choir and has delivered solo performances in Bach's St. Matthew Passion, the Duruflé and Howells Requiems, Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, and Handel's Israel in Egypt. He collaborates with premier chamber ensembles including Cathedra, The Thirteen, Chantry, District 8, and the Bridge Ensemble. Complementing his performance career, Widney serves on the voice faculties of Towson University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
