Victor Bento
Praised by San Diego Story as “a pleasing, lithe countertenor,” Miami-based Brazilian countertenor Victor Bento is an active soloist in Baroque and early Classical repertoire and a versatile ensemble singer. He appears regularly with ensembles including Blue Hill Bach, Academy of Sacred Drama, Orchestra Miami, Opera Neo, and Camerata Antiqua de Curitiba. His repertoire spans Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Britten, and rarely heard works of the 17th and 18th centuries, with notable roles including Unulfo in Handel’s Rodelinda and the title role in Pistocci’s Il Martirio di San Adriano. With a strong affinity for historically informed performance, Bento brings particular expertise in mid-18th-century English song. He is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Miami and serves on the voice faculty at Broward College in Florida.
